I Didn't Know That !

Below is a message that was submitted by Mickey Blanchford.
He made an inquiry to the Army Historical Foundation. I was
there for the activation of the unit in 1966. I didn't know when
the unit was deactivated. Thank you Mickey for the information.

 Dear Mr. Blanchford:

Thank you for your inquiry.  I checked the files at the U.S. Army Center
of Military History and found that, as you mentioned, the 36th Engineer
Battalion was reactivated 1 July 1966 at Fort Irwin California and deployed
to Vietnam in 1967.  The 36th particpated in 13 campaigns and earned three
Meritorious Unit Citations and two Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor
Medals. The 36th was inactivated in Vietnam 30 April 1972 and remains
 inactive.

I hope this information helps.  Please feel free to contact me if you have
any additional questions.  Also, could you please respond back and let me
know where you are from (city and state) and how you learned about the
Army  Historical Foundation?  As a nonprofit organization, we are required to
maintain statistics on the services we provide. Thank you and I look
forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
